Job Description
Attention all May 2023 Graduates! Apply today for cohorts starting in June, July, August, and September 2023 (depending on unit & affiliate).
Provides entry level professional nursing care to patients in varying states of health and illness. Working closely with the preceptor during the initial orientation period, the Staff Nurse I functions as an essential member of nursing and multidisciplinary teams providing direct care to patients and families, teaching, and preparation for continuing care after discharge.
Requirements:
A license through the state where the applicant intends to practice or compact licensure recognized by the state is required, or a graduate nurse who is license-eligible for the first time.
A minimum of an Associate Degree (ADN) is required, but some affiliates are moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. For these affiliates, all external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. Please contact the recruiter for any specific questions regarding the affiliate of interest.
Description:
Nurse Residency Programs across the affiliates are designed to provide new nurses with the knowledge, skills, and critical behaviors needed to be successful starting their new career. Newly graduated nurses will engage with experienced nurses, nurse educators, and subject matter experts in a series of classes, hands on skills sessions, and precepted clinical experiences in order to be able to safely and confidently provide quality care to patients. Clinical preceptors will facilitate patient care experiences and provide direct supervision of care as you demonstrate skills and behaviors at the bedside. Applying to The University of Vermont Health Network is the first step in a career of lifelong learning as a registered nurse. Affiliates with a structured nurse residency program have been designated with an asterisk (*), but all affiliates hire and train new graduate nurses.
