POSITION SUMMARY
To directly monitor patient(s) as assigned, and to maintain safety of the patient, staff, and others in the vicinity. Some of the job duties include:
Monitor the assigned patient(s) in accordance with the hospital.
Maintain diligence and continuous assessment of the environment for hazards in order to help ensure that a safe environment is maintained.
Utilize critical thinking and assess the therapeutic benefit of maintaining personal space while remaining an appropriate distance from the patient(s) to intervene if there are changes in the patient or environment.
Advise nursing staff of changes in behavior, unusual circumstances, or reasonable patient needs.
Exercise verbal skills to de-escalate potentially hostile patients or visitors.
Accurately complete the Patient Observation logs and other forms as directed while conducting direct patient monitoring.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must obtain BLS and AVADE certification within 6 months of hire.
EXPERIENCE
Prior Healthcare, Mental Health, Security, or Public Service experience preferred.
SHIFTS & HOURS
Day and Night Shifts: We have a need for this role day and night. In a full time role, our Patient Safety Attendants often work 36 hours per week with shifts running 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. That said, shift start and end times can vary.
Multiple Schedules: We offer full-time (36 hours/week - 6 shifts/pay period), part time (varied options of 1 or 2 shifts/week), or per diem positions as candidates are qualified and selected, based on our staffing needs.
