Christopher Anker, MD

Christopher Anker, MD is a radiation oncologist at The University of Vermont Medical Center and an assistant professor in the Division of Radiation Oncology at the University of Vermont. He is a member of the multidisciplinary lung, gastrointestinal, skin/melanoma, central nervous system, and head and neck teams.
Dr. Anker is active within the National Research Group (NRG), a multi-institutional cooperative research organization, and he is engaged in numerous projects involving clinical and radiation physics research. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Utah, where he then accepted a position as an assistant professor and served on the NCCN Melanoma Committee.
Dr. Anker believes in empowering patients to make treatment decisions that best fit their specific care goals. By working with the rest of the cancer team, his goal is to ensure patients have a thorough discussion of all available options.
Christoper Anker, MD earned his medical degree at State University of New York. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Suny-Upstate Medical Center and his residency in radiation oncology at University of Utah, Huntsman Cancer Hospital.
Havaleh Gagne, MD

Dr. Gagne is a radiation oncologist in the Department of Radiation Medicine at UVM Medical Center. Her specialties include breast, gynecology, head and neck and lung malignancies. Dr. Gagne works with Dr. Fram and his colleagues to see new and established patients at CVMC.
According to Dr. Gagne, "Radiation Oncology found me more than I found it.” Early on in medical school, she discovered that no matter what branch of medicine she was studying, she loved Oncology patients and this specialized branch of Cancer Care. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is meeting patients and working with them to create a therapeutic treatment plan that fits their goals and what they can do and tolerate.
Havaleh M. Gagne, MD earned her medical degree at UVM, College of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Fletcher Allen/University of Vermont College of Medicine and residencies in Radiation Oncology at State University of New York - Syracuse and at the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical.

Jeremy Leonard, MD

Dr. Jeremy Leonard joins the General Surgery team at CVMC after completing residency at New York – Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center while also completing time as a Research Fellow in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He attended medical school at SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Leonard is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and will participate in teaching surgery residents. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and playing sports with his children.

Nataniel H. Lester-Coll, MD

Dr. Lester-Coll is a radiation oncologist at the University of Vermont Medical Center and assistant professor at the Larner College of Medicine at UVM in Burlington, VT.
Dr. Lester-Coll specializes in treating patients with prostate cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, sarcoma, lymphoma, and metastatic malignancies.
His research interests include clinical trials, health services research, comparative effectiveness research, large database research, cost-effectiveness analysis, and decision analysis.
Dr. Lester-Coll is a strong believer in providing quality cancer care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, values, and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.
He strives to ensure that information regarding cancer management is spelled out as clearly as possible to his patients to help them make informed decisions and navigate what can often be a challenging landscape. He works hard to be a patient advocate and make certain that care is followed through. Dr. Lester-Coll values the relationships he establishes with each of his patients, and believes that goes a long way in improving their health.

Carl J. Nelson, MD

Dr. Carl Nelson is a radiation oncologist in the Department of Radiation Medicine at UVM Medical Center and an associate professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. His clinical and research interests include malignancies of the head and neck, central nervous system and breast as well as brachytherapy treatment for cancers of the prostate, cervix and skin.
At New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Nelson was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society and received the Stanley Bergen Medal of Excellence in academics and research. During his residency in the Radiation Oncology Department at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, he served as chief resident and received the Dean's Research Award for his publication on treatment outcomes for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in African American women.

Nelson, MD earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed his internship in internal medicine at Atlantic Health Systems/Overlook Hospital and his residency in radiation oncology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School -– Radiation Oncology.

H. James Wallace, MD is the leader of the Radiation Oncology Health Care Service at the University of Vermont Medical Center and an Associate Professor in the Division of Radiation Oncology at the University of Vermont. He is a member of the multidisciplinary genitourinary team and has additional interests in treatment of lymphoma and pediatric malignancies.
Dr. Wallace is the University of Vermont Cancer Center’s Principle Investigator for the National Research Group (NRG), a multi-institutional cooperative research organization. In addition to taking part in multiple national clinical trials he has a research interest in using ultrasound to localize the prostate gland prior to and during radiation treatment delivery.
Dr. Wallace enjoys working with the teams of healthcare professionals both at the National Life Cancer Treatment Center and the University of Vermont Medical Center. The staffs at both institutions take the time to make very technology-driven care very personal and caring.
H. James Wallace, MD earned his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed his internship at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital and his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Dr. Eduards Ziedins is a general surgeon with a focus on providing rural general surgical care. He cares for patients at the general surgery location in Berlin, VT. Dr. Ziedins is also an assistant professor at the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
