Shaun D. Demers believes achieving optimal mental health “is a team effort.”
“I’m very much health-geared and can offer direction to help patients reach optimal health,” he says. “But if a patient really wants to improve, they have to do their part by making lifestyle changes, taking their medications, doing what’s healthy.”
Demers supports patients’ progress by identifying obstacles to wellness and developing adaptations that promote fuller emotional well-being.
“If (patients) are stuck or have some barrier to care, then we have to look at that. We have to figure out what’s going on and help them change it. Health care is a collaborative effort.”
In his spare time, Demers enjoys camping, riding motorcycles, hiking and meditation.
