Recovery from opiates and other drugs can improve your health and overall quality of life. Our MAT team services can help you or those you love improve their chances for long-term sustained recovery.
What is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. MAT is primarily used for the treatment of opioid use disorder such as heroin and prescription pain relievers. The medication can normalize brain chemistry, block the euphoric effects of opioids, relieve physiological cravings, and normalize body functions. Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat these disorders.
What is the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program?
CVMC's Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program is staffed by registered nurses and licensed counselors who specialize in substance use disorder treatment and recovery. They work closely with local MAT care providers to offer you the best care possible.
As part of your care, the MAT staff provide you with education, support, referrals for additional supports, and care coordination with those involved in your treatment. Change is difficult and we want to help support you being a healthy community member.
